Tape Library Problems |

Fort Worth (CNN) -- An employee of WayStupid.com was seriously injured today when for some mysterious reason he fell into a large tape robot. The robot continued normal operations apparently treating the injured man as though he were a regular hardware component. Sr. Engineer, Dr. Franco, age unknown, of Arlington, TX, had several magnetic tapes injected into various body cavities before being discovered by fellow employee, Neil Sweet, who described the scene as "horrific." "It really was an awful sight. I don't think we'll ever be able to use those tapes again." An engineer for ADIC, Inc, the manufacturer of the tape robot, claims the robot is not to blame. "The robot functioned as it should have. Dr. Franco should not keep spare barcodes in his back pocket." He went on to dismiss as "ridiculous" that the robot had a grudge against Dr. Franco but could not explain the happy face on the robot's digital display pad which he was in the process of repairing. The chief surgeon in charge at the Emory Center For Geriatrics, Dr. Sheldon Wasserman, told CNN that Dr. Franco would survive his injuries but it would be quite a while before he would be "regular" again. The Doctor also said, "With a little time, Dr. Franco should be fully RESTORED to health although he may feel BACKED UP for a little while." Other hospital staff has noted that the victim has developed a personality disorder similar to Turettes Syndrome and has been heard screaming, "EJECT THE F_____G TAPE!" over and over even while sleeping. The victim's condition has been listed as serious but stable. Mr. Murray, a spokesperson for WayStupid.com released the following statement. "We here at WayStupid.com feel that Microsoft is to blame for this incident. Dr. Franco has been trained in Unix but has been forced to work in a mixed environment with Windows for over a year. We feel that this unprotected exposure caused Dr. Franco to become disoriented and that ultimately led to the accident. WayStupid.com will be filing a lawsuit in federal court tomorrow."

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN,
who salutes the Flag.
It is the VETERAN,
who serves under the Flag.
I don't know if you saw this in the news but it really impressed me. Funny, our US Senate/House took 2 days off as they couldn't work because of the expected storm.
On the ABC evening news, it was reported that, because of the dangers from Hurricane Isabelle approaching Washington DC, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment.
They respectfully declined the offer, "No way - Sir!"
Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment; it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a serviceperson.
The tomb has been patrolled continuously, 24/7, since 1930.
We can be very proud of our young men and women in the service no matter where they serve.

Hydrogen Fuel Balls from a Gas Pump? |

New Scientist reports that the Department of Energy has filed a patent for hydrogen fuel balls. From the article "The proposed glass microspheres would each be a few millionths of a metre (microns) wide with a hollow center containing specks of palladium. The walls of each sphere would also have pores just a few ten-billionths of a metre in diameter." They are supposedly safe and small enough to be pumped into a fuel tank in the same manner as gasoline.

Sticking it to "In God We Trust" |

A Keller ISD elementary school principal did not want to insult a very small minority of her students and their parents.
Instead, she chose to offend the majority by leaving the words "In God We Trust" off a nickel pictured on the cover of the school’s annual.
|
The cover of the Keller ISD school’s annual depicts the 2005 Liberty Nickel – complete with the face of Thomas Jefferson – but the words "In God We Trust" are missing.
Instead, the $16 yearbook contains a sticker with the credo and directions on how to apply it to the cover if the owner chooses. — Dallas Morning News

Time to put the kids in private school. Look... don't change the damn nickel! Either put it on the cover or don't, but don't change it. What in the #%$@?

Universe - A revelation. |

Since Craig wanted some controversy on here, I've decided to create some. Here is an interesting revelation. Now... this won't prove or disprove anything about God, Jesus, etc, but it is quite interesting though. The word Universe. What does it mean? Well, as soon as the atheists realize this they will come up with a new name for it.
uni (uni) pref. - Single; one.
verse (vûrs) n. - A single metrical line in a poetic composition; one line of poetry.
The Bible says in Genesis that god created the heavens in a spoken sentence. Interesting isn't it.
Have you ever considered that the moon is moving away from the earth at about 4cm a year (about 1 inch)? You do the math... and throw a little science in there because at a certain distance, the orbit would decay and the moon would crash into the earth. At distances that would allow orbit, but still too close the moon would cause winds to vaporize our atmosphere and pull the ocean waters into the atmosphere where they would be vaporized. Do all the math and you see the earth would probably be about 6000 years old. Now, I'm not saying whether or not I believe this. I'm creating a debate. Now go to town Craig, Jim, Yeahright, etc! Ha!

Tonight I wrote the update engine and interfaces for WayStupid.com. I can submit content into a queue and set a 'release date/time'. The content will automatically appear on the site at the scheduled time. This will make updating the site pretty simple. I can add content for the entire week, month, etc. and it will appear as if I update it every day.
On another note tomorrow they are supposed to gunite the pool. That will be cool to watch. I'll be sure to take some pictures and break out the PD-150 to video it.

WayStupid.com is Open for Business |

I've soft launched WayStupid.com. I say soft simply because I am not announcing it to the world or driving traffic to it yet. I want to let it run with friends and family accessing it to check for bugs. I spent hours tonight learning to do SQL 2005 OVER clauses with views and INNER JOINs so I could do high performance pagination. That makes the site really fast. I also learned how to make SQL Server return results in random order. That gives me the ability to select six random records for the 'Random Stupid Six' that appears on the view page.
I've also mirrored David's (my brother's) website (galaxy22.dyndns.org) at galaxy22.murraynet.net so he could provide access to more uses. His issue is that he only has a 128Kb/s DSL upstream. Since I have 5Mb/s up I can provide a pretty good mirror. However, I have limited connections to 256Kb/s to keep it from taking too much bandwidth from my other sites. As a bonus I added a footer to IIS so that it places a Google Adsense advertisement at the bottom of every page. Hopefully his content will provide me with some revenue in exchange for my bandwidth. I also tagged every page to label it as a mirrored site and a link to the real site. I'm using a neat little open-source program called WGET that downloads any changed pages from his site every morning at 4am.
I'm really hoping to be able to make some money from this Google Adsense program. Maybe it won't make me rich, but I've read about several popular sites make thousands of dollars a month off of their ads. I also read about one guy who is making a million dollars a year just by making thousands of sites and posting ads on them. Each day he wakes up and makes a new website and then indexes it in all of the search engines. At some point he hired a team of people to do it for him and now he just does whatever he wants to do. Hey, if someone else can do it, so can I!
