| That's right! I finally got around to figuring out how to connect ASP to a mySQL database without an ODBC DSN. Its actually quite easy! So all of the blog entries you see on this page are now pulled from a mySQL database running on a server at my ISP. This is something I really wanted to work. I don't like having to edit the page HTML to add updates. Now I just add another record in the database and boom, the site is updated. This is something I've tried to get my brother to do with his journal for a long time, but he seems to have no interest. My site is completly portable. If I get tired of my ISP or I want to run it from my own server, all I have to do is export the entries and import them into a new server. It makes my site layout flexible too. One change will change all the entries. I love it! |
